Stage 02.04 continued

Using your 3-dimensional diagrams and techniques from Stage 02.01, 02.02, and 02.03, continue constructing your Virtual Transformation Plates. In order to allow yourself more options, you should complete the two (2) new Phase I VTP's prior to commencing work on the two (2) Phase II VTP's.

The process for generating Phase II VTP's should be as follows:

Phase I VTP + Diagram 3 = Phase II VTP

For this process, Diagram 3 should act as an operative mechanism on the Phase I VTP. For instance, Diagram 3 might act as a shifting mechanism which, when inserted into the Phase I VTP, would yield the Phase II VTP.

Study the various possibilities thoroughly to determine which diagrams, when combined, result in a new diagram which displays varied hierarchical, zonal, and tectonic qualities. Use your experience and critiques from Stage 01 to help determine your process.

At least one (1) of your new Phase I VTP's must deal with the self-iterative process discussed in class today. Using this process, a new intensified set of conditions can quickly be generated using the slight shifts and rotations we went over. It may also be advantageous to implement the idea of the fading vectors, or paths, we touched on.

When the transformations have been completed in 3-d, export an isometric view into either Illustrator or InDesign. The secondary operational diagram should be shaded with black fill set to 25% opacity. This fill layer should be set below any line work which occurs. Dashed lines should be used to indicate hidden geometry, and dotted lines could be used to indicate movement, or a reaction between objects. Each Virtual Transformation Plate should then be submitted as a horizontally oriented jpeg measuring 3200x2000 pixels.

Files should be downloaded to your archlab folder by 8:30 AM, and named as follows:
